3. (w00t) (700↑, 170↓)
Function: interjection 1) An Expression of joy generally used by computer gamers and hackers. 2) An exclamation of victory or triumph over an obstacle such as winning a large prize at a LAN party. 3) A part of the 1337 language. History: The current-day use of the word w00t stems from hackers in the early to mid 80's. While communicating with each other groups of hackers such as Razor1911 would need lingo which nobody else would be able to understand to express milestones in their hacking. One such milestone was gaining root access, but the term rooted or "gained root access" was easily understood so the term was changed to w00t to help disguise. Because of the difficulty of "rooting" many times the term w00t would be much in a celebratory tone. It later evolved to simply be a celebratory remark rather than a hacking milestone.

1.Origonally written simply as woot(or WOOT) abreviation of Wu-Tang,specifically referring to the Wu-Tang Ninja Clan made by Aaron Anderson of Oakley,CA in 1997.This was done in order to spam Aaron and his brother with WOOTs over ICQ.Aaron thought it was funny, but Greg hated it.It eventually drove him nuts resorting in him running around EQ as Zarius the Ixzar Monk running around screaming woot wherever he went, and eventually in him even spamming chat rooms and other on-line games(even Yahoo chess) alike. Also the DM who created this's good friend Hell Fire spammed up Quake with it back in 97'. 2.Nonsensical gibberish you can just shout cause it's funny, and gets annoying really fast. 3.Warped into w00t by on-line nerds trying to make sense of 4 people shouting it all over the place, resulting in Quake players rationilizing it as We Own (the) Other Team, seeing that it became most fun to shout specifically as players where fragged,or at the end of matches. Also fabricated by Ever Quest players to mean "I won the battle" or "I leveled" or some other cool event, due to people just asking Greg Anderson, hey what does that mean?...it sounds cool..does mean huzzah or victory?" and him only answering with "uh yeah, sure" or more woots. This eventually evolved to w00t due to sheer bordom of saying it all the time. 4.An obnoxious spam tactic where one types it several times, copies, paste, repeats. This is know specifically as The Attack Of A Thousand Woots.

It's a state of mind where everything is cool. Wootness differs from chonkey in the sense that it is more 'style-related' : how you do things from day-to-day and how they end up based on the approach you took to do those things you do. When all things are going well in your own life, that's when you know that the wootness flows through you like water - it's a part of you - it's natural to you...When everything goes your way - or for the most part goes your way - that's when you know you have the power of woot within you...All of us do, it can come from time to time - or disappear for a long time, or simply stay w/ us our whole lives - we just have to believe in it...
